The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) manages £4.2 billion spend each year on third party goods and services. As part of the Procurement Modernisation Programme, Atos were engaged to design, implement and operate a high quality commercial intelligence unit to support Commercial negotiations and decision making across DWP.
Business Challenges- No central pool of expertise for commercial analysis and intelligence that served the commercial and business communities
- DWP operating with a number of supply markets which due to the DWP scale were unique or constrained. These had not historically been well understood or proactively managed as markets
- DWP needed to provide consistent high quality commercial intelligence across DWP in relation to:

- Embed advanced intelligence gathering and spend data analysis processes within the team through training and coaching
- Integrate the Commercial Intelligence function into the Business Operating model to maximise service value
